How does the Scalibor Protectorband work?

The Scalibor Protectorband contains deltmethrin, which is released from the collar using a unique patented technology. This ensures that a constant release of the deltamethrin occurs for the full 5 to 6 months.

Normal anti-parasite collars work by evaporation, which means that a large amount of the active ingredient is lost in the air.

Does the collar start to work immediately?

Yes, but peak deltamethrin levels are reached and maintained on your dog after 7 days.

Does the effect of the Scalibor Protectorband decrease over the 5 to 6 months?

No the amount of deltamethrin released from the Scalibor Protectorband after 1 week is the same as at the end of the 6 to 6 months.

Will my dog still get ticks?

Unlike many products available to treat ticks, the Scalibor Protectorband repels ticks to stop them attaching. Occasionally a tick may attach but it will be killed within 48 hours.

What should I do if I see a tick on my dog?

Don't just pull it off - this can cause the mouthparts to be left in your dog's skin. Ticks need to be greatly twisted in an anti-clockwise direction. Use a special tick hook (see our O'Tom Tick Remover) which safely removes ticks.

Is the Scalibor Protectorband Safe?

Yes deltamethrin is an ingredient that has an excellent safety profile in dogs. The ingredient sits in the oil layer on your dogs skin, it is not absorbed across the skin.

Can I get the Scalibor Protectorband wet?

Yes! There is no reduced efficacy of the collar if it gets wet. It does need to be removed if your dog goes swimming but can be put back on afterwards.

* Control of infestations with ticks (Ixodes ricinus; Rhipicephalus sanguineus) for 5 to 6 months.

* Control of blood sucking by phlebotomine sand flies (Phlebotomus perniciosus) for a period of 5 to 6 months.

* Anti-feeding effect on adult mosquitoes of the species Culex pipiens for 6 months.

Direction of Use

The 48 cm collar is to be used on small and medium-sized dogs.
The 65 cm collar is to be used on large dogs.

Easy to fasten around the neck. One collar is required per dog. Remove the collar from the sealed protective sachet. Adjust the collar around the animal's neck without tightening it too tight. Two fingers side-by side should fit between the band and the dog's neck. Slide the end through the buckle and cut off any excess length extending beyond 5 cm.

Can be used during pregnancy and lactation.
